It sounds crazy, right? But that’s exactly what the AER Kickstarter it trying to get you to do.
AER is a shell for the GoPro HERO3+, 4, and 5. You securely place your camera inside and lock the waterproof AER casing around it. Then you just start throwing it around as your GoPro records. Yes, the captures are limited by how high and how far you can throw, and you have little control over where the camera faces, but the videos produced can look great.
The AER wings are made from Expanded Polypropylene (EPP) and the head is molded Polypropylene (PP). As well as being waterproof, the dart-shaped casing will keep your GoPro safe when hitting the ground. The wings also allow for stable flight so your video captures are actually watchable.
All the super early bird Kickstarter pledges have gone, but you can secure an AER for 49 euros ($55). As well as the GoPro casing you get an AERbag for carrying everything as well as a stickerpack. The Kickstarter needs to reach 70,000 euros ($78,000) for AER to happen. As I’m writing this it currently sits at just over 16,000 euros with 34 days left to go. Promising? Yes. Guaranteed to be funded? Certainly not.
