Man creates home-made helicopter from 54 drones

When is a drone not a drone? When it’s got a pilot sitting inside it, that’s when.

So although we’re not quite sure how best to describe the flying machine in the video above, we’re certain that it is not a drone.

It is however, made from drones – 54 of them, or at least the rotors they use to soar through the skies. And its apparent inventor, YouTube user gasturbine101, calls it a drone. Or the Swarm Manned Aerial Vehicle Multirotor Super Drone, to give it it’s proper name.

But it’s not really a drone, because it’s got an actual man in it.

Nonetheless, it’s an impressive feat of engineering, even if the ride looks a little unstable, and the noise is pretty unbearable.

The footage, which appears to have been shot in the UK (the drone vehicle boasts a Union Flag on its canopy), has been viewed over 800,000 times since being published on YouTube earlier this week.
